I finished this yesterday and will say it's in my top two Emily Henry novels. I think Beach Read is still top, but this one nudges People We Meet on Vacation. I agree they both need to go to therapy, but enjoyed their friendship and then love story.

I loved it too!!

This one was so fun! However, it wasn’t your listening skills on the pants part. I was reading the paper version and went back and checked cuz I was so confused. 😆 Still a fun read.

So much unbuttoning 😆

I'm struggling to finish Happy Place now, despite two main characters that I really like. It doesn't work for me to have so much focus on the friend group and all of their adorable activities.

I just picked up a copy this week! I've been a little hesitant after my frustrations with Happy Place but all the glowing reviews have it moving up my list of reading priorities.

So glad I wasn’t the only one confused by the pants 😂

Thanks for this review - yes to the pants coming off twice! And yes to therapy. For the love, indeed. That was my complaint about this EH. There’s some deep stuff that doesn’t feel right being resolved within the structure of a HEA rom-com. So, this one was not my favorite (that is Book Lovers!)

I’ve read other romances that dealt with fairly heavy topics (Katherine Center comes to mind) and it didn’t bother me as much as this one. Not sure why?

I’m listening to the audio of this book now and similarly loving it, but I think your instinct is right that some more editing would have been helpful (something I’m noticing a lot in the new releases of this year, stars and debuts alike). For example, the force of nature Ashley is introduced twice. It’s a small thing, but is glaring.

Emily Henry has been hit and miss for me. I know I am in the minority, but I did not like Beach Read, and I HATED Book Lovers. I loved People We Meet on Vacation and Happy Place, though. Also, the fake dating trope is by far my least favorite. So, should I read this??? Oh, who am I kidding, of course I am going to read it.

Daphne did make passing reference to having therapy early on in the book.

Thank you Chelsey, for this review.

I feel a bit jaded by Emily Henry too, but will definitely pick this book up at the airport on my way to a summer vacation. I live in Australia so the season is getting colder by the day, but looking forward to both the holiday and now my next swoony summer read.

I started following you when you did a podcast with Curtis. I loved in particular your romance recs and Curtis' fantasy recs. I now love following your family journey on Instagram. My kids are 22 and 19 but one of my special memories is taking them to library time with Kerry. I don't know if she is as special as Theo's library person though, as we never went home with as big a haul.
