Writing Sunday Saves helps me feel lighter, more grateful, and content in my week, no matter what I was able to accomplish. This week, writing my list feels heavy. Everything felt heavy after seeing news of another (another) mass shooting—every kiss on my son’s cheek, every drive through town, every small decision, every phone call made, every blink. And yet, I know I need small joys and tiny hopes to continue living and fighting and protecting and mothering, so here’s a collection of things that kept me going.
This folksy playlist of Kid’s Music that’s Not Annoying is on regular rotation at our house.
One of the best Trader Joe’s products was finally back in stock at our local store! We make squiggly knife cut noodles with various veggies and proteins pretty much once a week.
If you’re looking for comfy-chic (not see through!) t-shirts for spring, I’m partial to this short sleeve ribbed t-shirt from Target.
I listen to audiobooks to drown out my husband’s incessant snoring and drift to sleep every night. Always, I listen to romance novels. Often, I take the opportunity to reread favorites. Recent rereads include Do You Want to Start a Scandal and When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare.
Kari sent me a lovely surprise inspired by my declaration of love for vintage florals in this post. I can’t wait to hang it in my office.
I’m back to using a Rhodia notebook for brainstorming and mind-mapping, and it makes such a big difference for me! I’ve had such a mental block around newsletter content, but five minutes with a smooth, blank page fixed me right up. I don’t know how to describe why this notebook is better than my Leuchtturm. Something about the square shape? The grid? The paper? Doesn’t matter. It’s the best.
Be gentle with yourselves and ferocious with your lawmakers, friends.
