A programming note: instead of sharing Sunday Saves on March 19th, I’m hosting a potluck in my subscriber chat, and you’re invited! All you have to do is bring a link to your favorite spring recipe—it can be a dessert, side dish, or main meal. This idea came from Katie of @katiebiblio, and I’m hoping to make it a seasonal tradition. You’ll get a notification when the chat thread opens on Sunday. See you then!
I’m prepping for a trip to somewhere warm this week, where I plan to read at least three books by the pool. I know I’m packing Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club by J. Ryan Stradal and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for a future Novel Pairings episode. I have an abundance of upcoming romance releases stocked on my Kindle, but I’m still deciding on a third (or fourth?) physical copy to bring.
Do I go big with Babel by R.F. Kuang?
Or slim with Zorrie by Laird Hunt, Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield, or A Dangerous Business by Jane Smiley?
Literary? Mystery? Fantasy? What would you pack for poolside reading?
I wrote about my recipe-saving dilemma for Modern Mrs Darcy last week, and the comment section is a gold mine of organization tips, including a few apps I’d like to try.
Since we’re gearing up for a trip, I haven’t been cooking any new and exciting meals. Shoutout to my freezer staples for keeping us fed: Just Bare chicken from Costco and frozen broccoli from Aldi.
I’m almost out of my beloved Bounce Curl products, and I’m thinking of trying something new. Have any wavy-curly girls had success with JVN hair products?
I watched the first three episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six (I cannot remember the last time I watched more than 15 minutes of something other than Bear in the Big Blue House). It’s fun, it’s fine, the music is good—but it kind of just makes me want to listen to Fleetwood Mac instead. Here are 30 more book to movie adaptations coming this spring.
What a stellar list! 114 Queer and Feminist Books Coming Your Way Spring 2023.
There will be no Wednesday newsletter this week (3/15), so I’ll see you at the potluck (3/19)!
Chelsey

I am also getting ready for a trip someplace warm, a work conference in Palm Springs. Looking forward to those long plane flights for some reading time, as well as evenings hiding out after peopleing all day long. I think I will bring Georgie All Along and The Romantic Agenda (March romance book club pick) but not sure what else in paper form.
The fantasy book you linked sounds so fun! Added to my TBR
