One of my favorite signs of spring in the suburban Midwest is when everyone comes out of hibernation and begins to gather again. Today as we drove through town, I noticed the local ice cream shop was open with families sitting at picnic tables outside. The baseball fields were buzzing with little league games, and the park was crawling with kids. As cool as the eclipse was (for those who watched it—I admit, I was napping), my favorite part of the day was soaking up a face full of sunshine while Theo and I ate our lunch on the deck.

I’m hesitant to fully emerge from my winter cave just yet. It feels as though every time I think I’m ready, both physically and mentally, for the freshness of spring, something urges me back into slumber. Today, I’m sharing a collection of links, items, moments, and musings that are helping me ease back into a participatory existence when hiding under the covers sounds more appealing.

My plants are usually an indicator of how well (or how poorly) I’m taking care of myself. When they’re thriving and hydrated—I’m thriving and hydrated. They (I) need some gentle care to come back to life this week.
