Dear readers,

Thank you for launching our summer readalong series with such enthusiastic and excellent discourse. I am always happy to provide guided materials for classic literature, but getting to interact with fellow readers who are wrestling with difficult characters, finding themes, and making connections to our world—that’s the good stuff. I loved reading Wharton in June, and I hope you enjoyed the text, along with our supplemental summaries and analysis questions.

For final reflections, and a post-reading discussion, I am rounding up our lingering questions from the comments section, tossing out some thematic trends I noticed from Summer and other Wharton works, and sharing several scholarly articles for further perusal.

I would love to hear your conclusions in the comments: what bits of Summer will stick with you long after reading? What contemporary novels did this classic remind you of? What do you hope to see more of in our future readalongs?
