Five spring picture books featuring cute bunnies
Bunny books are a crowdpleaser. Check out these spring-y picture books from the library or put them in your Easter basket.
When my three-year-old started part-time play school in the fall, it was a rough adjustment. Separation anxiety was at an all-time high, and tears flowed for three hours straight. His sweet teacher calmed him down with books (of course) and recommended he bring a stuffed animal buddy for comfort. Enter: Bunny.
Bunny lives on my child’s bed, but she rarely gets much attention compared to Goober the Bear. However, for a brief moment in time, Bunny became THE stuffy. Twice a week, Bunny was shoved in a backpack and hauled to play school where she offered comfort and whimsy and soft ears to rub.
Now that my kid loves going to play school, Bunny’s adventures are over. She can breathe easy outside of the cramped backpack. But if she ever gets bored, all Bunny has to do is hop over to our bookshelf where she can vicariously live through countless storybook rabbits and their exploits.
Bunny Picture Books for Spring Reading
Now that we’ve officially passed into spring, I thought it would be fun to share five of our favorite bunny-filled books to inspire your next library trip or Easter basket haul.
Bunnies on the Bus by Philip Ardagh, illustrated by Ben Mantle. Naughty bunnies take over a bus and race across town causing chaos! Catchy refrains make for a memorable readaloud, and the series continues with Bunnies in a Boat and Bunnies in a Sleigh.
I Am a Bunny by Ole Risom, illustrated by Richard Scarry. Seasonal readers need this classic on their shelves. A little bunny in red overalls frolics through spring, summer, fall, and winter, celebrating the joys of nature.
The Hare Who Wouldn’t Share by Steve Small. A recent library checkout about scarcity mindset and building community through sharing resources—with bright illustrations and a gentle dose of danger.
Bunnies by Richard Scarry. Beautifully illustrated and perfect for board book format, this classic pokes fun at storybook bunnies wearing clothes, while introducing real rabbit breeds to curious kids.
Bunny’s Book Club by Annie Silvestro, illustrated by Tatjana Mai-Wyss. Maybe my all-time favorite picture book? It’s the ultimate cozy story about falling in love with the library.

This is a fun roundup! One of the books I best remember from my own childhood is a favorite called Sunny Day Bunny that lived at my grandma's house which she read to me over and over. It has great illustrations and Sunny Day Bunny is just living her best sunny day bunny life, having a tea party in a wading pool. The internet tells me the book was published the year I was born so I suspect it was probably purchased for me around that time. It's interesting the books that stay with us and the memories those books can evoke years later!
Thank you for the shout out! Is there anything more delightful than spotting a bunny in the spring. Love the books you’ve spotlighted!
